GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality Environmental services in collaboration with CapeNature, Community Workers' Programme, Breede Gourits Catchment Agency and Garden Route District Municipality, held a clean-up operation at a Lawaaikamp / Borcherds dumping site in Garcia Street last week.
According to Grace Notshokovu of Environmental Services, they educated the community in the area on the cleanliness of the area, recycling, and reporting illegal dumping. The community was also invited to clean up.
Heidedal Primary took part and filled up approximately 400 blue bags with recyclables like tins, glass, paper and plastic.
The officials filled up about 200 black backs. Heidedal Primary is one of the schools that started a recycling project by making ecobricks to use for building.
