MOSSEL BAY NEWS - All roads where protesters have been running amok since before sunrise this morning, remain closed to traffic.
In Dana Bay, where the only access route to the suburb is closed due to protest action at the intersection of Flora Road and Louis Fourie Road, the area resembles a ghost town with several businesses that have not opened their doors.
The local neighbourhood watch is keeping a vigilant watch at the Caltex service station and no vehicular traffic is allowed through.
According to unconfirmed reports, protesters have started fires on the N2 in the Powertown area. The municipality is surveying the area from helicopters in order to direct law enforcement officers to the areas where necessary.
The municipal manager has told the Mossel Bay Advertiser work is being done to ensure an alternative access into Dana Bay - more news on this will follow as soon as possible.
Road closures:
• Louis Fourie Road | Flora Road intersection at the entrance to Dana Bay closed to traffic.
• N2 direction Mossel Bay past Asla Park is closed in both directions.
• N2 is closed between Voorbaai and Dana Bay.
• Louis Fourie Road closed between Dana Bay and Casino Road turn-off.
