GEORGE NEWS - When Parkdene Primary School received a donation last month, teachers Danielle Roetz and Janine Pienaar wanted to use it for something very special for learners returning to school during lockdown.
After giving it some careful thought, Pienaar came up with the idea of a hopscotch court at school.
"We wanted to make things at school fun again," says Roetz. She extended a heartfelt thanks to the donor, Anzelle Botha who works in the Cayman Islands, as well as United Paints for helping them turn this dream into a reality by giving them a really good deal on the paint.
Pienaar says everyone who works in the early childhood development phase (ECD) of the school was involved in the project. "After we started, our colleagues joined in when they saw how much fun it was. It also brought back really fun memories."
She says they cannot wait to share it with the children coming back to school this week.
