GEORGE NEWS - A protest march from Thembalethu to the George Municipality on Monday 19 March will impact the GO GEORGE bus service along Nelson Mandela Boulevard and York Street.
The march is expected to start at 08:30.
The march, about service delivery, has nothing to do with GO GEORGE.
Passengers need to take note of the following arrangements aimed at minimising disruption of the service.
Delays on routes 9, 13 and 14 (the two industrial routes and the City Loop) must be expected along Nelson Mandela Boulevard between 09:00 and 14:00, while a diversion from York Street will apply to the Pacaltsdorp routes 1A, 1B, 60 and 60A on their way into town.
Between 10:00 and 14:00, these buses will divert by turning right into Hope Street at the circle, left into Lang Street, onwards in Meade Street right up to Courtenay Street, where it will turn right and continue on its normal route to the CBD.
No bus stops between the Hope Street circle and the circle at the top of York Street will be operational during this time. Possible delays might be experienced on the way back to Pacaltsdorp, but no diversions are being planned for the return route.
Alternative bus stops to those being non-operational during the march:
• Skatelab (820 and 821) or Depot (717 and 718) passengers: use York B 110 and Hope 111
• Union A (712 and 713) passengers: use Temp Stop (1A and 1B) in Lang Street
• Palgrave (599 and 600) passengers: use Temp Stop (2A and 2B) in Meade Street
• Fichat A (160 and 161) passengers: use Temp Stop (3A and 3B) in Meade Street
• Marthinus (1020 and 1021) passengers: use Temp Stop (4A and 4B) in Meade Street
• Market 553 (A, B and C) passengers: use Temp Stop (5A and 5B) in Meade Street
The entire system might experience delays, but the situation will be closely monitored for the duration of the march on Monday and any changes to the plan will immediately be communicated on the GO GEORGE Facebook page.
The GO GEORGE Call Centre will also have the latest information and can be called on 0800 044 044.
GO GEORGE apologises for any inconvenience caused by this march.
