WILDERNESS NEWS - George detectives have called on the community in the Touwsranten/Hoekwil rural area to assist them in the investigation of a culpable homicide that occurred on the Hoekwil road, at about 02:00 this morning, Sunday 6 December.
Preliminary investigation indicates that paramedics were en route to Touwsranten to attend to a medical callout when they spotted a jacket lying on the road surface.
Upon inspection, they discovered that there were traces of a possible accident with debris found in close proximity of the jacket. They expanded their inspection and discovered the body of a man that was clothed in blue pants and torn shirt.
He was lying face down behind the roadside barrier.
They alerted the police, who immediately commenced with investigation into the circumstances concerning the incident and determined the identity of the deceased who is believed to be in his early fifties. His name cannot be revealed as the next of kin haven’t been informed yet.
Anyone with information that can assist the investigating officer to trace those responsible for this “hit and run” and/or confirm the identity of the deceased, is requested to contact the investigation officer,
