After an operation in February during which most of the cancerous tumour was removed, Nadine had to have cancer treatment. During this second operation her doctor will attempt to remove the last of the tumour. He also recommended using a form of chemotherapy called 'GLIADEL® wafer'.
After surgical removal of the tumour, GLIADEL® wafers are soaked with a chemotherapy drug (BCNU) and implanted in the space where the tumour was. The wafers are meant to destroy the remaining tumour cells.
Her husband, Ettienne on 12 July received confirmation that their medical aid will be paying a very large part of the R113000 of the medical bill coming their way, but there are still other significant costs that need to be covered.
Nadine and Ettienne, and their boys Cullen (4) and Finley (1), have been through an incredibly trying time during the first half of this year, but with the support of colleagues from Avis, where Nadine works, and their family and friends, they have managed to keep their hopes up and believe in complete healing.
Says Charlene Brocker, a close friend, "God has worked miracles for this incredible family and it is such a privilege to be lucky enough to have been there from the beginning. I look at my friend every day and am in awe at the power of prayer and faith."
