Visitors from all over the country and from Germany, Spain and the Netherlands were welcome by George Mayor Melvin Naik and councillors.
All the motorists that were stopped at the friendly roadblock received a holiday pack with bottled water, peanuts, lollipops, a pamphlet on saving water, a pamphlet with traffic safety tips and the latest George Municipal Newspaper which contains the Mayor’s festive message and more tips on how to save water.
Naik wished all a safe and enjoyable holiday while in George, and thanked officials for their hard work over the very busy festive season.
The welcoming team, led by Naik, included Deputy Mayor Gerrit Pretorius, Director of Protection Services Steven Erasmus, councillors David Willemse, Marlene Barnardt, Cecil Noble, Gert Niehaus, Edmund Bussack, Stag Cronje, Peter Louw and Jean Säfers.
The Traffic Chief Donovan Saptoe and officials of Traffic, Law Enforcement and the Fire Department joined the team.
