GEORGE NEWS - Pink flamingos have been spotted in town, flocking in front of local businesses. This ingenious fundraising initiative, all the way from the United States, has taken root in George and will run until middle October.
"The money raised from this fundraiser goes directly to the Kos vir Kinders-projek, run by George Vryburgers," said coordinator Lisa Swanepoel.
"The flocking is done in a good spirit. These flamingos will roost in front of a business until they mysteriously migrate to the lawn of another "victim" or friend. A note will indicate that a certain business has been "flocked".
Once a flock of these pink beauties gather on someone's porch, it is up to the host to give a small donation and select the new "victim" for the flamingos' next migration. "This is all done in good spirit, in support of our cause," said Swanepoel.
Photos of the pink flamingos will be posted on the social media page "Flocking Flamingos Fundraiser" and Instagram.
