GEORGE NEWS - It is expected that candidates for a new speaker, chief whip of council and four Mayco members will be appointed during today's George Council meeting.
The IEC voting booths are up and all is in place should voting take place.
The atmosphere is loaded with anticipation of what will unfold. The public gallery is packed and for once the media has been accommodated inside the chambers.
ANC councillors commenced with a song before the start of the first council meeting of the year.
