SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Police officers, who lost their lives in the line of duty, were honoured during a nationwide Commemoration Day on Sunday 6 September.
Owing to the line of their work police officers are exposed to dreadful danger daily.
Due to an increase in crime-prevention operations, the high level of interaction between police members and perpetrators of crime, including an increase in protest action and an enhanced reporting and capturing system all contribute to the increase on police attacks countrywide.

The annual commemoration is held to remember fallen heroes and heroines, whose deeds serve as an example of what it means to be selfless and patriotic in the service of humanity.
Locally, police officers, members of various disciplines within the force, as well as members of the Community Police Forum (CPF) took part in a day of prayer at the Greenhaven AFM church in Great Brak River.
