GEORGE NEWS - Several community halls in George have recently been upgraded by the division of corporate services.
Alwyn Joseph, manager of community halls, said some of the projects completed include the upgrading of the kitchen at Parkdene Community Hall, with the installation of kitchen cupboards, floor and wall tiles.
The ladies' ablution facilities at the George Civic Centre have been retiled.
The Rosemoor hall's ceiling has been repaired and curtains were replaced at the Lawaaikamp and Touwsranten halls. The kitchens at Touwsranten and Lawaaikamp halls have also been upgraded with new cupboards and tiles. Joseph said they will soon start with the installation of Beta fencing, a stronger quality of fencing, around the Parkdene Community Hall.
Portfolio Councillor for Corporate Services, Jacqulique von Brandis, and Director of Corporate Services, Siphiwo James, recently visited a number of the locations to view the upgrades.
