GEORGE NEWS - The University of the Third Age (U3A) is offering some interesting lectures during November. All lectures take place at Emmaüs in Memorium Street.
On Wednesday 8 November, in Armchair Travel, Chris Leggatt will talk about the national parks and canyons of Utah, USA. He has made a career out of seeking adventure.
His business, Eden Adventures, has been a part of the Wilderness landscape for more than 25 years.
Apart from adventure, Chris also has a passion for photography, which he uses as an outlet for his creative spirit. His photography has featured in various publications including several covers for Weg/Go magazine.
He has also been a finalist in the Africa Photo Awards for three consecutive years. The talk starts at 10:30.
Camera club
On Monday 20 November, the Digi Camera Club will be presenting "Nursery Rhymes''.
Visitors are welcome to attend a Digiclub meeting at any time, at an entrance fee of R20 for those who are not a member of the U3A. Members pay R10 per meeting. The meeting will start at 14:00.
'The lure of silver'
On Friday 24 November, Jill and Mike Holland will talk about "The lure of silver'' and will include a display of several hallmarked articles from their personal collection. There will be refreshments at 10:00 and the talk will start at 10:30.
This will be the last event for this year as there is no International Affairs discussion this month. Lectures will resume in January 2024. In the meantime, the U3A wishes all members a happy Christmas and peaceful new year.
