EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - CapeNature firefighters are continuing with mopping-up operations in the De Vlugt area near Uniondale.
Fire-lines above Angies Gspot, Van Zyl property and the trout farm are only partly smouldering.
An active fire line persists north-east of the trout farm and is moving further east, which is fueled by hot and windy conditions. The northern line is progressing in the direction of Uniondale/Haarlem.
Firefighters dispatched
- Eden crew x 6
- Working on Fire: 2 teams
Current priorities include: Mopping-up above structures and to prevent easterly line burning back toward structures and infrastructure at the trout farm.
Wildevarkberg wildfire
An Incident Command Post has been established at the MTO Jonkersberg office.
The Incident Commander is Dirk Smit of the Southern Cape Fire Protection Association.
Still no visual on the north western and eastern flanks (line). Western flank still active but burning slowly. MTO "spotters/lookouts" acively monitoring to ensure the western flank does not cross the Witels River. A section of southern fire line burned out into a river.
A Working on Fire team is mopping up to the east of the "laagwater brug".
The western flank is very inaccessible with very steep slopes. The eastern flank is still active but burning very slowly and with low intensity.
Hopefully the predicted rain will have a positive effect on this fire.
