GEORGE NEWS - Mayor Leon van Wyk offered his warmest condolences today, 8 June, on behalf of Council and George Municipality on the sudden passing of Mayor Marlene Van Staden of the Modimolle-Mookgophong municipality.

Van Staden, who was Mayor at Modimolle-Mookgophong from 2016, visited George twice over the past two years accompanied by her senior management and Mayco members.

"Ald Van Staden was a vibrant, bright personality filled with enthusiasm and dedication to her municipality and its residents. I offer my deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the entire community of Modimolle-Mookgophong during this difficult time," said Van Wyk.
