GEORGE NEWS - The man who was found guilty of fraud after he conned Gallery 7 in the Eden Meander Lifestyle Centre out of four Persian carpets worth R300 000, is scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow, Friday 17 May.
Tarkan Cakmak was found guilty in the Thembalethu Regional Court in November last year.
According to the store manager of Gallery 7, Lettie Kümm, Cakmak told her he wanted to purchase three rugs for his wedding anniversary as a surprise for his wife. He told another employee, Hassan Aittaleb, that he wanted to buy it for his wife as a birthday gift.

He was arrested shortly afterwards at his own carpet business in Greenacres Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth by the investigating officer, Jydrean Heathcote.
Cakmak is represented by Stuart Laubscher from Port Elizabeth. The case serves in front of Magistrate Pumela Yono and Karin Barnard is appearing for the state.
