GEORGE NEWS - A Wilderness traffic monitor, Bennet Baardman, came to the rescue on Sunday 25 March when he recovered a woman's missing handbag.
She had withdrawn cash at the ATM and got into her car - not realising that her bag had dropped to the ground - and drove away.
Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, a vagrant grabbed the bag after she left and hid it for later recovery. When the victim realised her bag and cash was missing, she returned to the scene and began asking around.
Baardman immediately started his own investigation, traced the person who had picked up the bag and got him to divulge where it was.
Everything was recovered, including her passport and cash.
