Update
GEORGE NEWS - Striking Go George bus drivers left thousands of commuters stranded yesterday morning. George Link, the vehicle operating company of Go George, informed Go George in the early hours of the morning of the strike.
Go George issued an urgent notice at 06:00 that no buses were running and that George Link was trying to engage with the drivers.
Some bus drivers and personnel were seen at the bus depot in York Street, but many had gone home by 10:30. Go George apologised for the disruption and the impact of the "unplanned strike" and promised to give regular updates.
Drivers told George Herald the strike is Covid-19 related and that they fear infection due to insufficient safety measures. At the time of going to press yesterday afternoon, George Link and the drivers' representatives were still engaged in talks.
