Black wattle tackled at Garden Route Dam

GEORGE NEWS - Leading alien hacking consultant Rozanne Steyn gave a free demonstration on Saturday 10 September at the Garden Route Dam to show how easy it is to chop down invasive alien trees. 

Thousands of black wattles have infested the area surrounding the dam wall. Here Ken Gie, founder of the Garden Route Dam Action Group (Gardag), holds on to a black wattle sapling being cut down by Liam Prins (11), under the watchful eye of Steyn and Blake Prins (7). 

The hacked stumps were painted with Kaput herbicide afterwards.
