GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route SPCA is hosting its annual 'bark in the park' 5km and 2,5km walk in the botanical garden at the top of Caledon Street on Saturday 7 October.
This fun event always attracts many SPCA supporters - and the dogs have a ball. The walk is part of the SPCA's celebration of International Animal Week (4 to 10 October).
The theme this year is "Wear something with an animal on it".
A shirt, a hat, a brooch - anything you like. Only owners - please, no dressed-up dogs.
It will be followed by an informal dog show with great prizes for the winners in the following categories: Happiest dog, Mr and Mrs Personality, Best behaved dog and Best SPCA or adopted animal welfare dog.
SPCA officials will be on duty from 08:00 for registration near the Getafix Garden Café at the botanical garden.
The walk will start at 09:00 and the dog show will be at 10:30.
SPCA Christmas cards and gifts will be on sale, as well as Furry Friday ribbons. For more info, please call Wendy Jones on 082 351 4669 or Heather Church on 072 877 2911.
