GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - A school teacher at Holy Cross Preprimary, Catherine Byrnes, was under the impression she had to fetch something in her car at Shamrock Place car park this afternoon, when she was surprised with a baby shower by her colleagues.
The group of women followed an international trend to celebrate a special occasion within the regulations of Covid-19.
Everyone drove in convoy and passed Catherine's gifts through their car windows.
Deveney Fember, Catherine's flat mate and colleague, organised the event. The secret was well kept from Catherine and her partner Freginald Africa, a former SWD rugby player.

Colleague Bessie Engelbrecht's advice to the couple is to make sure they get enough sleep before the baby arrives.
Catherine and Freginald are expecting the arrival of their daughter, Chloe, on 18 May.
