GEORGE NEWS - Many people are tossed to and fro by the storms of life and many become motivated to help others by sharing their experiences. Some even promise themselves to write a book about it all - for others or for personal closure. But Lizzie Matthews of George actually fulfilled this promise to herself, although it took two years to write the book.
Arise Warrior is the tale of her struggle and how she found faith and the will to stand and fight to turn her life around.
"I was in storms with my family and my husband. With this book I hope to share that experience with others who may be experiencing difficulties. We need to be able to recognise the voice of God and find Him despite all the distractions in our world," the author says.
She started logging daily events on her cellphone and these were eventually transferred to working files on a computer. This is when the idea of writing a book became a reality, Matthews says.
"During the time my daughter had a serious operation, I needed to be brought to my knees to listen. There were days when I just had to carry on - there was literally no time for tears."
The way the book was originally created, also forms the structure of the book.Short chapters on the aspects of faith and Matthews's struggle give special insight on how she survived the storms in her life.
Arise Warrior will be launched formally on 10 August at the VGK Church at 1 Amaryllis Street in Pacaltsdorp. Matthews can be contacted on 078 479 9533 for more information.
