GEORGE NEWS - A team from the local food security initiative, Kos en Fynbos on Friday spent a morning in Blanco with students and staff from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in USA and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

Five homes in the town were visited which had been awarded prizes in the Kos en Fynbos gardening competition that concluded in March.

There were 52 visitors from the Massachusetts Institute in Boston. Many happy children on school vacation accompanied the party through Blanco.

During their visit to George, the US visitors also spent some time visiting the special water-saving permaculture demonstration garden at the Garden Route Botanical Garden.
