GEORGE NEWS - A well-known Lawaaikamp resident, 37-year-old Nigerian national Osondu Eze, was allegedly murdered in Thembalethu on Friday 4 August.
It is alleged that the deceased was attacked by six unknown men at the corner of Ngcakani and Masivuselele Street at 22:50 in the evening.
According to Captain Dumile Gwavu, Thembalethu Police communication officer, Eze was stabbed with a sharp object on his upper body and died at the scene. The police are yet to arrest suspects as the investigation is ongoing.
The death of Eze follows three other alleged killings of men in Thembalethu in July.
On 9 July a man was allegedly beaten to death in Zone 9 in what appeared to be mob justice. The deceased allegedly broke into a house in Tsunami Park.
On Monday 10 July a body was found in the bushes in Thembalethu between Ntaka Street and the N2 highway. According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape Police spokesperson, the deceased was found with multiple stab wounds to his upper body.
A body was also found at the Thembalethu Stadium on Wednesday 19 July.
A passer-by found the deceased, Unathi Dyoyi, with stab wounds to his upper body at about 07:30 near the Thembalethu Stadium. Police suspect he was part of an armed business robbery earlier that morning at Community Cash Store in Zone 7.
It is believed that two men, armed with a knife and firearm, robbed the store and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, snack box, airtime, a loaf of bread, a cellphone, sweets, chocolates and sugar.
