GEORGE NEWS - Four suspects were arrested in connection with two unrelated murders in George over the weekend.
Thembalethu detectives arrested three suspects aged 22, 24, and 27 on Saturday 29 August in connection with the murder of a 47-year-old man in Asazani Street, Zone 6, Thembalethu. Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim had been assaulted by a group of people. His body was later found in the street with a stab wound to the head. He was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
The suspects are in custody and will appear in the George Magistrate’s Court today, Monday 31 August, on a charge of murder.
In an unrelated incident, police arrested a 57-year-old suspect on a farm on Rondevlei Road, Wilderness, yesterday, Sunday 30 August, at about 07:00. He was connected to the death of a 50-year-old man at the farm earlier that morning. The victim’s body was found by family friends in the bedroom of his home. Investigation at the scene indicates that he had been assaulted with a spade. He sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene.
The suspect was arrested at the scene on a charge of murder. He remains in custody and will appear in court tomorrow, Tuesday 1 September.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted during this week.
