Update
GEORGE NEWS - A woman (18) from Lawaaikamp and two men (24 and 23) were arrested by the Conville police in Lawaaikamp on 13 January after various drugs and electronic devices were found in their possession.
The police received a tip-off from the community that was followed up by the Conville Crime Prevention Unit.
774 Mandrax tablets, 100g tik, 12 cellphones and two laptops were found. The suspects were due to appear in the Thembalethu Magistrate's Court yesterday, Wednesday 15 January. At the time of going to print, the accused were still waiting their turn.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie said the Eden Cluster Commander, Maj-Gen Oswald Reddy, commended Col AB Kriga and the Crime Prevention Unit for their commitment to rooting out drug abuse.
"Drugs contribute to other violent and economical crimes. Drug houses are a haven for the distribution of stolen property," said Pojie.
