GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu police opened two murder dockets following the murders of two men in separate incidents. In the latest incident a brawl in a pub in Thembalethu had dire consequences when a man, Mpumolelo Xovudaka (37), was stabbed to death on Saturday 16 July in Mtabata Street in Zone 9.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie, the victim was requested to leave the premises after he was involved in a fight at a local pub. He was stabbed on his way home shortly after leaving the pub.
"The family of the deceased found him in a critical condition with two stab wounds to his back. They rushed him off to hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries on the way and he was declared dead by paramedics at the hospital on arrival," said Pojie.
Police seized a bloody knife, believed to be the murder weapon. This will be sent for DNA testing. A potential suspect was taken in for questioning, but was later released as there is not enough evidence to link him to the incident at this stage.

Man dies in hail of bullets
An arrest is yet to be made after Sifiso Lloyd Nkohla (37) from Zone 9 in Thembalethu, was shot at about 19:45 on Wednesday 13 July. Nkohla died in a hail of bullets in his shack in the back of a yard in Teyise Street.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, no arrests have been made yet. Police members were dispatched to the house after being alerted by family members who had heard shots being fired in the back yard.
"Members then found the body of the deceased in the doorway of the one-room shack with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He had already succumbed to the injuries sustained and was declared deceased by paramedics on the scene," said Spies.
Forensic experts and detectives combed the scene for clues and evidence that can assist with the investigation. They confiscated a number of empty casings as well as projectiles found on the scene.
