GEORGE NEWS - Glenwood House in George achieved a 100% pass rate with every candidate obtaining a university exemption.
The group of 44 matriculants received their Independent Examination Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate Examination results at midnight on Tuesday 2 January.
The 44 learners attained on average of three distinctions each and the class average was 74,5%.
Joshua Lochner, Ashford Marx and Mignon van der Watt all received a full house (seven or more distinctions) and finished in the top 5% of IEB learners in South Africa.
The IEB has reported a 98.76% matric pass rate for 2017, which is marginally better than the 98.67% in 2016.
“The class of 2017 have done very well and have once again shown that, with a commitment to hard work, supported by dedicated teachers and parents, their dream of taking the next step in their journey of life-long learning has become a reality,” Dennis Symes, headmaster of Glenwood told the George Herald.
The pass rate for the Department of Basic Education's schools will be announced tomorrow, Thursday 4 January when Angie Motshekga, the Minister of Basic Education announces the results on national television.
