GEORGE ELECTION NEWS & VIDEO - Those who are physically unable to reach a voting station on election day, 8 May, as well as those whose circumstances won't allow them to reach the station in time to cast their vote, may still apply for a special vote for the next week, until Thursday 18 April at 17:00.
The application period for special votes started last week Thursday, 4 April, and runs for two weeks. The voting stations will be open from 09:00 to 17:00.
According to the Provincial Electoral Officer, Courtney Sampson, persons with disabilities may ask someone to assist them with the application process. Application forms can be downloaded from the IEC website and individuals can apply directly online.
On 6 and 7 May, successful applicants will be able to cast their votes at their voting stations while those who are physically unable to get to a voting station will be visited at their residences by electoral teams to make sure they are accommodated.
