GEORGE NEWS - Two suspects aged 23 and 38 were arrested after a Dutch couple were robbed at gunpoint near the Map of Africa viewpoint in Remskoenlaan, Wilderness on Sunday evening, 29 September.
They were scheduled to make their first court appearance in the George Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 2 October.
The couple, on holiday in the Garden Route, fell victim to the muggers when they were on their way back to their vehicle at about 17:45.
They were approached by two armed men who threatened them with firearms and demanded their cellphones and wallets.
Before fleeing the scene, the suspects slashed the tyres of the couple's car and drove off in a white Toyota Yaris.
"Items stolen during the incident were recovered and handed to the owner. The suspects remain in police custody. The police also seized two imitation firearms and a zip gun during the arrest," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies.

The incident happened in the gravel road, Remskoenlaan, that connects Whites Road with the Map of Africa viewpoint.
