GEORGE NEWS - The 21-year-old Nelson Mandela University student Fandiswa Mthonti, briefly appeared in the George Magistate's Court on Friday 22 November.
Mthonti is charged with the murder of a fellow student (23) at their residence in Mountainview Crescent in Le Vallia on Sunday 17 November.
The case was postponed to Monday 2 December for her bail application as the state wanted to verify some aspects regarding her bail and the investigation officer was not available to attend court proceedings.
When police arrived at the scene around 19:00, they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds.
According to available information, the victim was stabbed six times with a knife. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene. Mthonti was apprehended at the scene.
The motive for the incident is still under investigation.
The police have not officially released the deceased's name. Her mother arrived from East London in George late last Tuesday evening.
