GEORGE NEWS - Mystery still surrounds the body found in an open field in Zone 6, Thembalethu, on Thursday 27 March.
The police have also not been able to identify the deceased, who seems to have been beaten and stabbed to death during a mob justice attack.
Tattoos on the victim suggest he had been a member of a numbers gang.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said when the police arrived on the scene, they found the victim with several open wounds to his head, inflicted by some sharp objects.
The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
The police appeal to the public to come forward with any information to trace the deceased’s next of kin.
