GEORGE NEWS - A Malawian national (33) was arrested in Herold on Thursday 18 April after he and a group of other suspects allegedly burgled a house on a farm a few kilometres from the Oudtshoorn turn-off on the N12/R62.
It is believed that the suspect was part of the group, who had been surveilling the house for a while before they burgled it between Sunday 14 and Wednesday 17 April.
During this time they managed to remove a large quantity of furniture from the house.
A fight however ensued among members of the group and one of them informed the farm owner of what was happening on his premises.
This suspect was then arrested while the others are still on the loose.
At the time of the incident, the house was furnished, but unoccupied as the farmer uses it as additional accommodation on his farm.
George Police are investigating a case of housebreaking and theft as well as malicious damage to property.
