GEORGE NEWS – The man accused of causing the crash in which Danielle van Jaarsveld (41) died appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court earlier this morning, Tuesday 10 February.
The case was postponed to Wednesday 4 March in the George Regional Court.
Gareth Webster faces a charge of culpable homicide following a head-on collision on Swartvlei Beach Road near the Sedge Links Golf Course in Sedgefield on 6 November 2022.
Van Jaarsveld (41) died on the way to hospital after the Kia sedan she was driving collided with an Audi SQ5 performance SUV.
Her passenger, Monique van Zyl, sustained serious injuries and had to undergo multiple operations and physiotherapy to regain the ability to walk. Webster and his passenger, Adriaan Adam, were not seriously injured.
The family approached AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, whose involvement led to the matter being formally enrolled.
