Breaking News Update
GEORGE NEWS - Police, municipal law enforcement and local traffic officials clamped down on two houses in Rosemoor earlier today, Wednesday 25 September, where municipal sidewalk paving bricks, allegedly those stolen from sidewalks in the area a couple of weeks ago, were confiscated.
The first house was in Woltemade Street and the second in Truter Street.
With George Herald's arrival on the scene in Truter Street, officials were lifting the paving bricks from a driveway.
Authorities have recently had their hands full with locals who help themselves to sidewalk paving; make dangerous and illegal electrical connections and threaten municipal teams on after-hour call-outs to render services.
It is believed that some of the paving thieves were mere children, presumably sent by their parents.
More information will follow as it becomes available.
