GEORGE NEWS - The South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) is rolling out a nationwide empowerment road show to equip businesswomen with much-needed new insights and tools to do business in the future. The road show will stop over in the Garden Route at Pinnacle Point near Mossel Bay on Thursday 11 April.
Council leader Elise Coetser says the business landscape is changing at an incredible rate. "The Future Jobs 2018 Report by the World Economic Forum states that new categories of jobs will soon emerge, partly or wholly displacing others. It also found that the skills sets required in both old and new occupations will change. Plus, we already find ourselves in the first stages of the fourth industrial revolution, where new technologies that change the way we do business, literally emerge almost daily. Considering business developments such as these, we can all agree that the business landscape is changing irrevocably. But are we ready for it?"
The road show will comprise practical discussions and interactive workshops that will provide participants with new information they can apply in their own businesses, immediately.
In addition to the future of work, the topics on the table include the importance of coaching the younger generation of women in business; understanding millennials and the unique traits of women that future business desperately needs.
Established 30 years ago when the world of work was mostly male-dominated, the SACBW needs to evolve with the rapidly transforming business world. Therefore the SACBW recently embarked on a process to reconnect with its true purpose and re-engineer its structure to ensure that it can continuously add tangible value for all female entrepreneurs in South Africa.
This process led to the council's new slogan: "Uniting all our business women to lead the business evolution".
Coetser says the council believes in the timeless words of WEB Dubois that there is no force equal to a woman determined to rise. "Now imagine what could become possible if powerful women across our country joined hands to rise. The SACBW aims to facilitate exactly that."
