The company recently re-entered the Southern Cape with the construction of the Kempston Motors premises, currently underway in Langenhoven Street in George.
The Shukuma approach to install concrete floors and roofs, security walls, warehouse walling and many other applications where pre-stressed slabs are used, offers more advantages than the traditional method. Among other benefits, contractors now enjoy increased efficiency without the need for storage space and props on often crowded sites.
Already a success in other parts of the country, the notion of pre-stressed slabs, designed in-house for specific purposes, makes a lot of sense.
Purposed designed
The Plettenberg Bay architect on the Kempston Motors project, Brian Salters says not only is using Shukuma Flooring for the purpose designed concrete slabs which are pre-manufactured more time efficient, it is also a clean process. "Basically you can do the floor in one day. Shukuma worked off my plans and came to George to do a final measurement before casting the slabs (in a controlled environment in a state-of-the-art factory) and delivering them to the construction site.
"To work on this 1000 square metre building was thus quite easy, easier than working on a private home," says Salters.
Francois Scholtz of Tuiniqua Consulting Engineers agreed with Salters in that the Shukuma concrete slabs are of high quality and a great time saver. Builder Warren Dixon as well as Pollock Builders concurred with this view point. The aforementioned were all involved in the Kempston Motors project.
