At the end of last year Eskom issued a request for information for the building of a project aimed at providing 9.6 gigawatts of nuclear energy by 2030.
Eskom on Tuesday denied reports that the Russian nuclear company already submitted a bid for the planned nuclear project.
A senior Rosatom executive then echoed Eskom's statements.
The executive states that they are looking forward to the bidding phase of the project, which still has to be launched.
Rosatom and other interested bidders will have until the end of this month to reply to Eskom's request for information.
