"This is an indication of the need in the Southern Cape for industry-relevant qua-lifications which are nationally recognised and which assist working adults in achie-ving their career goals," says Elsa Myburgh, BSU George Satellite Manager.
"The Business Studies Unit provides effective, practical and dynamic management training which is bench-marked and tailored for corporate clients.
"Close association with commerce and industry ensures that our programmes are contemporary, relevant and effective," said Myburgh.
Trimester 1 commenced in March this year, and working adults resumed their studies with great enthusiasm to obtain the one year certificate in Specialist Project Management (NQF 6), Specialist Human Resources Management (NQF 6) and Business Management Development (NQF 5).
During the orientation session at the start of the Trimester, students were introduced to their lecturers, and were given an overview of the Business Studies Unit of DUT, which has a national footprint.
Evening classes are offered in George on a part-time basis, and students welcome the fact that there are contact hours with lecturers who are qualified with Master’s degrees, and have industry experience.
The unique methodology of case studies and individual and group assignments sets the BSU programmes apart.
Registration for trimester 2 starting in June is now open.
New programmes to be introduced in June, are: B Tech NQF 7 (minimum entry: national diploma), Certificate in Logistics Management NQF 5 (minimum entry senior certificate).
Students older than 23 with a senior certificate are eligible to enrol to improve on current qualifications and to formalise their working expertise.
The BSU may be contacted on 044 873 2671 or 044 873 6681. Alternatively send an e-mail to elsam@bsu.ac.za for more information.
