GEORGE NEWS - A landmark restaurant in town flaunts a brand new name and makeover. Known for over 20 years as the Kingfisher restaurant, this popular eatery on the corner of Memorium Street and Knysna Road now bears the name of Pure Craft and Foods.
New owner Silveihn Steenkamp is excited about the changes made over the last eight months.
"Our name emphasises the pure handcrafted interior of the restaurant, the eight craft beers we serve on tap, and the delicious food on offer," said Steenkamp.
Building on the legacy of Kingfisher, Steenkamp created a friendly family vibe and brought about some exciting changes. "We have a whole new rustic look with modern elegance and an artistic appeal. Come around and see for yourself, you will be pleasantly surprised," invites Steenkamp. Regular customers will recognise their old favourites on the menu, with the majority of the popular items still on offer. "Our focus is on elegance and presentation - it's a real feast for the eyes."
The enthusiastic young restaurateur has a passion for the business and the community. Originally from Johannesburg, Steenkamp made a life-changing decision to move to George two years ago.
"I saw the opportunity to have my own restaurant and grabbed it," he said. "We invest in our clients. Being involved in the community is very important."
