BUSINESS NEWS - For this Cancer Awareness Month, George is turning pink for a purpose.
The Pink Trees for Pauline initiative invited towns, schools, businesses and individuals to wrap trees in pink fabric from mid-September to the end of October.
The goal is to raise funds for local cancer patients and support services, with proceeds staying right here in our own community. “Some of the donations in George go to Bethesda Medical and Relief Services in Rosemoore this year, helping provide care, comfort and dignity to patients in need,” says Adri Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen, Managing Director at Pink Trees for Pauline.
George is set to proudly stand among the towns showing their support, along with the passionate backing of local businesses like dotsure.co.za.
What is Pink Trees for Pauline?
This initiative was founded in 2012 in memory of two remarkable women. Founder Carol-Ann van Jaarsveld lost her mother and grandmother to cancer, and both were named Pauline. The family wanted to honour their lives by creating something that would bring hope to others facing the same battle. What started as a small tribute soon grew into a nationwide movement.
The idea is simple and powerful. Instead of relying only on events or charity drives, communities are encouraged to use something already rooted in their streets and neighbourhoods. Trees become billboards of awareness, wrapped in pink fabric as a visual message of support for cancer patients.
Every wrapped tree becomes a reminder to check in on loved ones. To get screened. To support someone going through treatment. And most importantly, to show those fighting that they are not doing it alone.
The Power of Pink
Cancer is not something that happens somewhere else. Some of the very people who will walk past these trees will have lost someone or will be in treatment themselves. It’s a medical, financial and emotional battle. That’s why localised support is so essential.
Pink Trees for Pauline turns awareness into action by funding treatment transport, providing wigs and offering emotional support and comfort when patients and families are overwhelmed.
Fabric and follow-through
As a George-based business, dotsure.co.za is proud to back Pink Trees for Pauline by sponsoring the trademarked pink fabric to wrap trees across town.
The fabric will not be discarded once the campaign ends. It will be re-used by Wild Mongoo, a local initiative empowering women through employment. From wrapping trees to being stitched into useful products, the pink will continue to make a difference.

Giving back is what George does best
George is not a town that waits for someone else to act.
At dotsure.co.za, our purpose is simple: to provide Soft Landings. Being part of this community is about contributing to it in practical ways. Some of those efforts include:
- Packing over 1.5 million meals annually for food relief.
- Partnering with Wild Mongoo to support job creation.
- Running internal health awareness programmes for our own staff.
Pink Trees for Pauline is a natural extension of this commitment to community upliftment.

Small actions lead to real results
Not every act of support needs to be loud. Sometimes it is as simple as wrapping a tree and letting the vibrant colour speak for itself.
For everyone fighting a silent battle. For hope.
