In recent times, Nashua added surveillance and monitoring (CCTV) to its product set. What is CCTV?
CCTV – or Closed-Circuit Television – is simply an audio/visual surveillance system that makes use of security cameras in order to transmit a signal (which in this case will be an image or video) to a specific location.
Peter Rooyakkers, Owner and MD of Nashua George explains, “Nashua’s business model has served us well over the past 40 years and our traditional product offering remains the same. But, any good organisation continues to grow and to seek new opportunities. It is unfortunate that our country finds itself in a situation where security has become a big issue.”
“Nashua added various new business segments to our product range, namely Telecommunications (PBX / VOIP), Software Solutions, Office Infrastructure (PC’s, Servers, LAN) and CCTV. The new segments fall within our Specialised Services Division, headed up by the Sales Manager, Cobus Carstens.
Cobus says, “The CCTV division started about two years ago and the growth has been phenomenal. Our business model for CCTV remains exactly as it has always been, and that is that we provide a seamless end-to-end solution for our customer.”
Every potential client is approached on a “needs specific” basis before any proposals are drawn up.
A typical process would include:
1. Site meeting and survey
2. Technical discussion and proposal
3. Present proposal and discuss terms
4. Installation and training by PSIRA qualified personnel
5. Continuous technical support and maintenance
Cobus continues, “Nashua George has a very strong sales and technical team in the Southern Cape and Karoo region and we can leverage off that to offer our client base the complete CCTV solution. We also have the added benefit of being able to offer finance (rentals) to qualified customers.”
The CCTV systems vary, from a simple four analogue camera to 64 or 128 IP camera systems have been supplied and installed within the region. Besides normal monitoring, a new innovation is that all your network of cameras can also be monitored remotely, via laptop, tablet or smartphone, meaning that you can have an eye on your business, home or assets from anywhere on the planet!
Peter adds, “The most popular placements are at schools, retail outlets and shopping malls, restaurants, industrial business, fuel stations, farms and homes.”
Statistically it has been proven that properly installed and maintained CCTV systems help in:
1. Preventing burglaries
2. Increasing work productivity and timekeeping
3. Assisting in prosecuting wrongdoers
4. Providing leads and evidence to law enforcement
Nashua acknowledges that CCTV systems are not crime proof, but do go a long way to provide a safer environment for our businesses, homes and more importantly, our families and employees.
