Dr Botha to focus on skin cancer

GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - A new dermatologist, Dr Anton R Botha, will open his practice in George in January 2020.

Botha envisions focusing on screening for and treatment of skin cancer. Botha grew up in Pretoria with German as his home language.

After successfully completing his studies in medicine at the University of Pretoria, and some years later specialising in dermatology at the universities of Stellenbosch and the Free State, he started his career in Upington in the Northern Cape.

Here he encountered the same abnormalities and diseases of the skin commonly found in any other province, but what soon stood out was how harmful the relentless Kalahari sun is on the human skin. Over the following three years this led to a special interest in preventing and treating skin cancer.

Leaving the banks of the Orange River and its inestimable people, Botha and his wife Susan, with their two young children, are relocating to the Garden Route to be closer to family.

Pursuing an outdoor lifestyle, they look forward to enjoying more of the wonders of nature.
