GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - The George-based company Cloud Connect has been making huge inroads in providing internet to homes and businesses across the Southern Cape. Cloud Connect specializes in using the latest wireless technology for fastest deployment.

Their connectivity services stretch from as far as Oudtshoorn, Dysseldorp, De Rust and Uniondale in the north; Plettenberg Bay, Crags and Knysna in the east; and Albertinia and Herbertsdale in the west.

The company’s technical team has done pioneering work in erecting towers that reach across the Outeniqua mountains. By increasing connectivity in the region they have brought about meaningful improvements in making George the true service centre of the region.

Cloud Connect recently added more wi-fi hotspots to its growing network. In answer to the ever-increasing demand, Cloud Connect has expanded its infrastructure to new areas such as the east around Kraaibosch, as well as increasing capacity and strengthening the network around the central business district.

eTime, a local Garden Route-based Wisp, was also acquired by HeroTel. Last year eTime and Cloud Connect merged to combine resources, thus creating the largest Wisp in the region. This consolidation of Wisps will result in significant benefit to consumers by pooling resources to provide a better services over a wider area. "Our dedicated support centre will give customers a far better service experience going forward," said a spokesman.

The roll-out, under contract to the Western Cape Government, has benefited more than 150 000 new users since inception two years ago, each of whom receive up to 250MB of free data per device daily at 110 newly-established internet hotspots.
