GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - A dynamic George couple, Les and Veronica Stephens, decided in 2008 to channel their zeal for occupational health and safety as well as human resources into their own venture.
They proudly founded a business consultancy under the name of 4 Front Safety and Security Consultants cc, trading as 4Front Consultants, rendering services throughout the Garden Route and nationally.
Their programmes have since enabled numerous businesses to function more effectively thanks to improved skills among employees, from ground to executive level. "Any company's biggest resource is their people and we build business through growing people," says Veronica.
Her passion for the development of individuals beyond their personal barriers has seen her leave a career in the medical field in 1989 to venture into human resources with specific focus on training and development. Her side of the business focuses mainly on the philosophy of Tonbo Coaching and she uses 'Coaching 4 better work performance', a dynamic programme developed for the individual and/or team to meet set goals within the organisation. "I do a skills gap analysis before preparing a personalised programme and then go on to coach the individual or group. It is not generic training, but addresses the actual gap," says Veronica.
The results speak for themselves. "I have many satisfied clients who have experienced improvement in performance as a result of the development of their personnel. Feedback from trainees is also tremendous."
Les specialises in all spheres of occupational health, safety and security. He has been in the industry for more than 28 years and is registered with the SA Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Saiosh). Among his major clients are private estates and construction companies. He prepares suitable, sufficiently documented and coherent site-specific health and safety specifications for the intended construction work, based on the baseline risk assessment as set out in the CR 5 (1) (a) (b).
"Safety plans are drawn up for both the principal contractor and sub-contractors and include training in First-aid level 1, as well as health and safety representative and basic fire training. We aim to offer an all-inclusive consultancy service that encompasses not only on-site observation, but also training in the field of health, safety and security to maintain a high standard, which in turn will minimise risks on site to all persons," says Les.
Veronica adds, "We are local and understand local business. Our packages are customised to meet every client's specific need and we aim to bring long-term change and results."
