BUSINESS NEWS - We are excited to announce the opening of the Akeso Outpatient Addiction Facility in George, in the Western Cape. There is a growing need in our surrounding community to provide an outpatient programme for adults, to assist with addiction and substance-related disorders.

This is where support, intervention and coping skills are taught and provided in a safe and contained environment.

The programme consists of group sessions that take place twice a week, presented by psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers. The programme is based on dialectical behavioural therapy, which covers topics under mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

Specific skills presented will include maintenance strategies via relapse prevention. Other aspects incorporated into the programme include balanced life, community reintegration, self-awareness, insight development as well as family and individual therapy.

This three-month programme provides the option to attend on a monthly basis. Persons who would benefit from this programme can be referred by a friend/family member as well as by a health care practitioner.

We aim to provide the community with the necessary support and guidance on their journey to a life worth living.
