They also have an outlet based in the harbour at Quay 4. Their frozen seafood products include prawns, mussels, calamari, snoek and much more. "Our unique selling point is that we offer fresh fish from our own boats.
Therefore, when we say 'it's fresh', we can say it with authority, as we know exactly when our boats go out and when they return," says Nanaette Lourens from Cachalot. As an owner-operator business, she says that their business philosophy and ethos rests upon the phrase 'celebrating life'. Apart from their fresh fish and frozen seafood offering, Cachalot's takeaways are ever popular adhering to their standards of being deliciously fresh, even at the George branch where the new shop has only been trading for just over a week.
Their fresh hake, calamari, snoek and chips is an all-time favourite take- away. Cachalot is also a preferred supplier of fresh fish to a number of up-market hotels, golf resorts and restaurants. They are therefore also looking forward to be of service to other chefs and restaurateurs. The need to open an outlet in George was obvious, due to the the huge demand for fresh fish.
"We are also in the position of catering for the angler's needs, in being able to supply a range of bait required." The new shop is headed up by Marnoux Coetzee, who spent more than a month in training at Cachalot in Voorbaai, before opening the new outlet in George.
