GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - A unique classical Christmas concert not performed anywhere else, will be staged on the pomegranate farm Celebratio, between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp, on Saturday 11 December.
This open-air concert under the stars of the Klein Karoo features three of the country's top voices, Corlea Botha, Jannie Moolman and Lynelle Kenned, accompanied by members of the Stellenbosch City Orchestra. The conductor is Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg.
The programme is jam-packed with classical hits including Somewhere, All I ask of you, Libiamo and Vivo per Lei, as well as Christmas songs such as O Holy Night, Mary did you know and Joy to the world.
While Jannie and Corlea are "old friends" of Celebratio, having performed at the concert a couple of times,
it will be the first year Lynelle Kenned takes to the Celebratio stage. Lynelle, a graduate of the UCT Opera School, is an acclaimed opera singer, actress and TV presenter. She won a Fleur du Cap and Fiësta award for her performance in the musical West Side Story and was also named the Young Voice at the KKNK in 2019.
The concert starts at 19:30, but the food and wine stalls will open at 18:00. Bring family and friends and come and relax on the terrace overlooking the pomegranate orchards and mountains before the show. Local restaurants will be manning the food stalls while thirsts will be quenched by Jakkalsvlei (wine), Grundheim (gin) and Celebratio (pomegranate juice). There will also be a cash bar.
Tickets are R250 and are available on www.celebratio.co.za. All seats are reserved.
Celebratio is situated on the Old Cement Road between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp and no gravel roads need to be taken to reach the farm.
