Mike Allsopp, of the Agricultural Research Council, will speak on bee diseases in South Africa and the identification of it as well as give an overview of American Foul Brood (AFB), its handling and research that is in the pipeline.
Dr Gerhard Verdoorn, from the Endangered Wildlife Trust Working Group and Dirk Uys will speak on 'Pesticide need of deciduous fruit, canola and seed onion before and during flowering'.
'The influence of different chemicals and the method and timing of its application on bees' is the topic of Dr Hannelie Human's talk and Riaan van Zyl, of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, will talk about beekeeper registration, marking and inspections.
Other speakers include Jaco Wolfaardt, of the SA Bee Industry Organisation (Sabio) and Carole Poole, of the SA National Biodiversity Institute.
