I live 200m off the airport road (R102), near Outeniqua Palm Nursery. In the last 15 years traffic on this road has dramatically increased.
What also increased is the way of reckless driving. Especially in the morning rush hours it is a nightmare to use this road. There seems to be no more law and order, overtaking even on continuous lines or even on double continuous lines is common.
Speeding is common and tailing is common. I have witnessed so many accidents on this road, so many people even lost their lives or got badly injured.
The way the reckless driving continues it is only a matter of time until we have the next serious accident. I am tired of the reckless driving and I am of the opinion that the R102 from the airport to town and vice versa should have a maximum speed limit of 80km/h.
I further have the opinion that the traffic police should be more visible on this section of the R102 and act against the reckless drivers.
After consulting with my closest neighbours, we actually share the same opinion as they witness the same reckless driving day by day. (Read an article on this elsewhere in the paper.)
