GEORGE NEWS - The Carpe Diem School Christmas Market will take place on 23 and 24 November at Carpe Diem School.
It is the 10th year that the school for children with special needs hosts this popular event, and this year workshops have been added to the brilliant array of goods on offer.
At the market, the Southern Cape community can buy quality handmade gifts they won't find in a shop. Each item is lovingly crafted by the pupils of this inspiring special needs school.
The pupils of Carpe Diem School are our own; they come from all over the Southern Cape. They work throughout the year to produce these desirable Christmas gifts and there is something for everyone, from pottery, Christmas decorations and a gift wrap range to wooden products, home décor and children's gifts.
This year the school added workshops to the schedule to spread creativity. On Thursday 23 November at 09:00 Madeleine and Marlene from Aweh Studios will present a mosaics workshop. Karen du Plessis from Kitchen Queen Food Studio will host sushi making workshops on the same day at 16:00 and 18:00. Both these workshops are R200 per person.
On Friday 24 November at 09:00 Lidie Kempen of Carpe Diem School will host a pottery workshop at R150pp. The pottery products of Carpe Diem School are extremely popular; now you can learn from the master! Karen du Plessis from Kitchen Queen Food Studio will also present a macaroons workshop at 14:00 on Friday at R200pp. Remember that prior booking will ensure your place.
All equipment and ingredients are included.
Albert Einstein said, "Creativity is contagious. Pass it on". At this year's Christmas market, visitors will not only walk away with unique gifts, they have the opportunity to leave with a skill.
